Outings Information

All our outings (unless otherwise specified) are open to the public. Please wear appropriate hiking attire (boots and a hat are recommended) and bring water and a light lunch. Most of our dayhikes last about 4 hours.

The degree of difficulty is usually listed in the description of the hike. Easy hikes are usually less than 4 miles round-trip. Moderate hikes run from 5 to 7 miles round-trip. Strenuous hikes will exceed 8 miles. However, hilly terrain can make a 4 mile hike quite strenuous. If you have any question about the difficulty, contact the leader of the hike.

Contacting the Leader

For most scheduled hikes, it is not necessary to contact the leader if you wish to join the hike. However, if you need more information, please feel free to contact the leader at the listed phone number. All phone numbers are in area code (805) unless otherwise noted.

Liability Waiver

All participants on Sierra Club outings are required to sign a standard liability waiver. If you would like to read the liability waiver before you chose to participate on an outing, refer to the national Sierra Club web site or contact the Outings department at (415) 977-5630 for a printed version.

Minors

Minors must be accompanied by an adult or have written parental permission giving phone number and authorization for continuing treatment by an M.D. in case of emergencies. Minors must have a parent sign the Liability Waiver for them. A minor is anyone under the age of 18 years. The outing leader has the discretion not to allow minors.

Regional Group Keys

The note in parenthesis at the end of each outing is a key to the group who has organized the outing.
