September 5-7
BACKPACK THOUSAND ISLAND LAKE VIA RIVER TRAIL: Strenuous, 18 miles round trip, 2000 gain. Saturday, Day 1, hike 7.5 miles to Thousand Island Lake at the foothills of Banner Peak. Sunday, Day 2, day spend a leisure day at the camp or hike to Garnet lake and vicinity, Day 3, Return via Pacific Crest High Trail which provides breathtaking 180 degree views of Ansel Adams Wilderness. Possible we will see fall colors, Golden Aspens. Bring goodies to share for Friday and Saturday happy hour. SANTA PAULA CANYON TRAIL: Join us for some swimming, jumping, sliding in the best pools and slides in Ventura County. Very long drive. Moderate hike with some rock and boulder hopping, about 7 mrt. Wear/bring shoes for walking in water, hat, sunscreen, insect repellent. Bring water, lunch, snacks. Call the leader for details. TONY 687-1929 (SB)

SAN YSIDRO - McMENEMY TRAIL LOOP: We’ll start on the San Ysidro trail, transition to a fire road, then loop back by Bud Girard Trail to starting point. Moderate 3 mrt. Bring lunch and water. Meet behind B of A on upper State St. at Hope Ave. at 9am. GERRY 964-5411 (SB)

ROMERO CANYON LOOP: Hike up a trail with trees and a small stream to a lunch spot. Then down an abandoned road with a beautiful view. Moderate 6 mrt. Bring lunch and water. Meet behind B of A on upper State St. at Hope Ave. at 9am. Diane (SB)

RED ROCK TO SWIMMING HOLE: Hike to below Gibraltar Dam and relax by/in the water. Moderate 6.5 mrt. Bring swimsuit, wading shoes, lunch and water. Meet behind B of A on upper State St. at Hope Ave. at 9am. TONY 687-1929 (SB)

MONDAY MORNING WALK: Meet 8:30am at Mission Plaza to take trolley into Meiners Oaks to walk through the Ojai Land Preserve Restoration Project then walk back on trail. PAT 643-0270 (SP)

September 25-27
SERVICE AND HIKING IN THE CARRIZO PLAINS: This is an opportunity to visit and to assist an outstanding and relatively unknown national monument. There will be an optional and scenic hike high in the Caliente Mountains on Friday. Others may join us for National Public Lands Day on Saturday when we will participate with other volunteers working on improvements for the Soda Lake Overlook. NATIONAL PUBLIC LANDS DAY TRAIL PROJECT: Take this opportunity to help work on one of our front country trails. Work will be done on San Ysidro Trail. Bring gloves, a hard hat or bike helmet and meet us at Skofield Park at 8am. TONY 455-4212 (SB)
