Volunteer

The vast majority of the work done by the Sierra Club is done by volunteers, people like you who contribute their time to accomplish their local Group or Chapter's objectives.  Thousands of people continue to find that they can help explore, enjoy and preserve the Earth through their Group or Chapter of the Sierra Club.

You can be a part of that. There are many different opportunities available which will fit your skills and experience.  The first step is to contact your local Group chair.  He or She will be able to direct you to where you are needed most.  You may have to be persistent.  Many Club officers are busy and may not know immediately where you might fit.  Attend an Executive Committee meeting, meet the people and find out what is happening in the Group or the Chapter.  You'll find ample opportunities to say "I'll help." and you'll be on your way.

Current specific needs for people and things are identified in the Want Ads section of this site.  There are many more opportunities than you will find there but these needs have been specifically identified by the people who need the help.  Check it out, there may be something just right for you.

The strength of the Sierra Club is that it has always been a grass roots organization.  Our volunteer structure allows anyone in the Club to make their own personal contribution.  Each one of those contributions takes us one step closer to our goals, and yours.

Take a step forward today.
